BICOCCA - BEFORE AND AFTER


Bicocca is the first and largest transformation of one of the vacated industrial areas in Milan, and one of the most important urban renewal projects in Europe. This project, promoted by Pirelli Real Estate, involves about 700.000 square metres of land that formerly housed the huge Pirelli industrial plants during the last century. The result of the masterplan by Vittorio Gregotti, this new quarter has also been the site for other famous names in modern architecture such as Valle and Boeri, Camerana and Kipar. The project is now almost completed and has led to the creation of a new “urban centre” where culture, science and research integrate with residential areas and centres for leisure and entertainment.
